Rex Langdon Stone '43-1
Rex Langdon Stone ’43-1 passed away in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, on May 9, 2010. After graduating from Maine Maritime Academy, he entered World War II in the Merchant Marine and was part of a convoy deployed throughout the North Atlantic Ocean. He went on to the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he returned to the Merchant Marine and served in Vietnam. At his retirement in 1969, he was a captain. His retirement gave him the opportunity to continue his education and become a high school history teacher at Lee Academy in Lee, Maine, where he taught for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Margaret, and five children from his first marriage.
