William F. McPhee '43-2

William F. McPhee ’43-2 died May 5, 2010 in Auburn, Maine. He was in the Merchant Marines until 1944 when he became an ensign aboard the USS Dauphin operating in the Pacific Theatre of WWII. He was honored that his ship was in Tokyo Harbor when the surrender documents were signed. He was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant JG. After his naval service, he was graduated from University of Maine (1950) with a BA in business administration. He became a salesman for Moore Business Forms and worked in Eastern Maine. Prior to his retirement, he was president of Rollins Office Supply, Inc. in Lewiston, Maine. He was an avid sportsman and golf player; and was a founder of the Maine Football Forecasting Association which awarded him a trophy recently for being its oldest member. He was known for his kindness, memory, wit, cute jokes, and wonderful stories.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Therese, and two sons and a daughter. He was predeceased by a daughter.
