Carl S. Olsen ’47 died in Augusta, Maine, on August 19, 2010. He was stationed in the Philippines with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Chipola and the USS General H. W. Butner. He was a merchant marine before moving to Massachusetts where he met his wife. He owned his own service station in Worcester, Massachusetts and then managed the local Sears Automotive Center until he and his wife retired to Tenant’s Harbor, Maine where they lived in the home his mother had owned. Both he and his wife were very active in community affairs and belonged to many charitable and benevolent organizations.
He was predeceased by a step-son and then his wife of 57 years, Jean, who died only two months before Carl did. He is survived by three daughters and two sons.
