James M. Langmeyer '75

Jim Langmeyer, a retired Merchant Marine, passed away on Tuesday December 6, 2011 in the comfort of his home in Weymouth and surrounded by his loving family. He was 57 years of age.

Born in Boston on Christmas day, Jim was raised and educated in Dedham and had lived in Weymouth for 32 years. He was a 1975 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and a 30 year member of the Marine Engineers Beneficial Assoc. (MEBA). He retired in 2008 as Chief Engineer having worked at sea for many shipping companies over those 30 years. Jim was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed skiing, the beach, riding his motorcycle and enjoying all that nature had to offer. He was a member of the Weymouth Elks. He was most passionate about family, friends and especially his grandchildren James and Caroline.

Beloved husband of 33 years to Frances “Fran” (Hughes) Langmeyer. Devoted father of Holly Sullivan and her husband Chris of Hingham. Loving brother of Paul & Maryanne Langmeyer of VA, Virginia & Dennis deMello of Canton and Georgina & Bob Ward of Hollis, ME. Beloved brother-in-law of Tom Hughes of Washington, DC, Beth & Dick Laurie of Hanover and Dave & Jacqueline Hughes of Norwell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the NORTH WEYMOUTH McDonald Funeral Home, at 40 Sea St. (off Rte 3A at Bicknell Sq) Friday evening 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral from the Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 9:00am followed by services in the South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St. (Rte 228) Hingham at 10:00am. Burial in the Fairmount Cemetery will take place at a later date.
